Job Title: Faculty Position in Microbiology

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced instructor to teach Microbiology with Lab (BIOS-242) at our Tyson's Corner, Virginia location.

This course covers basic concepts of microbiology, with emphasis on medically important microorganisms and infectious diseases. Lab exercises focus on aseptic techniques, isolation and culture of microorganisms, microscopy, and staining techniques.

Responsibilities:
  • Develops and provides students with an approved syllabus that follows a template established by the local campus, including terminal course objectives.
  • Organizes, prepares, and regularly revises and updates all course materials.
  • Uses appropriate technological options for online technologies and course-related software, including websites, email, and online discussions for preparing the course and making it accessible to students.
  • Models effective oral and written communications that engage students, provide clarity, and improve student learning.
  • Sets clear expectations for the course by publishing course terminal objectives, assignment/examination dates, and the weight distribution of various evaluation categories.
  • Ensures that the content and level of material included on exams correspond to the course terminal objectives.
  • Demonstrates consistency and fairness in the preparation and grading of exams, and provides timely feedback to students.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications:
  • Earned a master's or doctorate degree with a minimum of 18 or more graduate credit hours earned directly in the field of instruction.
  • Have taught or been told you're a natural at teaching and helping others learn.
