Role Overview
The selected candidate will be instrumental in the development and execution of projects aimed at upgrading existing facilities, particularly focusing on the John W. Keys III Pump-Generating Plant. This position will involve on-site work during unit commissioning, with a hybrid work arrangement based in Spokane when not on-site. As part of the balance of plant engineering team, the responsibilities will include:
- Evaluating technical contract specifications, identifying design needs, and formulating concepts for solutions and systems.
- Overseeing designers and engaging in the creation of engineering documents such as block diagrams, instrument lists, electrical schematics, installation details, wiring diagrams, cable lists, P&ID diagrams, and control panel specifications, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and applicable codes.
- Collaborating with various engineering teams, suppliers, and clients for the integration of relevant equipment systems.
- Drafting technical specifications for electrical equipment and reviewing associated shop drawings.
- Executing engineering instructions for work or inspections at the facility.
- Monitoring and updating project budgets and engineering schedules.
- Organizing and participating in design reviews.
- Reviewing and approving technical documentation produced under supervision.
- Contributing to the development and maintenance of design tools and standards.
- Engaging in problem-solving and root cause analysis.
- Preparing technical documentation for submission.
- Reviewing vendor engineering documentation for compliance with specifications.
- Addressing technical electrical installation challenges during assembly.
- Being present on-site during commissioning, directing unit commissioning, coordinating daily meetings, updating schedules, and serving as a liaison between clients and commissioning engineers.
- Enhancing overall quality and excellence in installation and commissioning execution.
- Reviewing designs and suggesting modifications to minimize installation difficulties, enhance safety and quality, and reduce time and costs.
- Supporting the Field Services team through technical guidance, training, and mentoring on best practices.
- Assisting the project execution team with installation and commissioning issues.

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering.
- Experience in turbine-generator instrumentation or related industry experience is advantageous.
- Familiarity with general instrumentation and control system design is beneficial.
- Knowledge of hydroelectric or other power generation sectors is a plus.
- Understanding of hydraulic power and control systems is an asset.
- Proven ability to analyze and resolve technical challenges and design effective, cost-efficient solutions.
- Capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (desired) and AutoCAD Electrical (advantageous).
- Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project, etc.).
- Strong interpersonal skills, collaboration, and teamwork are essential.
- Willingness to travel and work on-site as required.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
