Dental Assisting Instructor

Savannah Technical College is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a part-time/adjunct faculty position in Dental Assisting. The successful candidate will provide instruction to students, ensuring they develop the necessary skills to become employed in the profession.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide professional instruction based on approved course syllabus.
  • Instruct, manage, and supervise individuals and groups in classrooms, laboratories, and/or clinicals.
  • Prepare lesson plans, curriculum, and syllabus for coursework taught.
  • Evaluate students' progress in attaining goals and objectives.
  • Administer and grade class examinations.
  • Maintain records of student attendance and grades.
  • Attend in-service training, workshops, and seminars as needed.
  • Maintain program certification requirements.
  • Ensure safety and security requirements are met in the training areas.
  • Monitor students' use of supplies, materials, and equipment.
  • Assist with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts.
  • Meet with students, staff members, supervisors as needed.
  • Demonstrate effective use of oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of current procedures in the Dental Assisting field.
  • Observe and enforce the institution's policies and regulations.
  • Communicate and interact professionally with college employees, students, and visitors.
  • Maintain qualifications for employment as described by the Technical College System of Georgia Policy Manual.
  • Follow rules and regulations as described by the Technical College System of Georgia and other policies and procedures established by the Savannah Technical College.

Minimum Qualifications:

The successful candidate must possess a bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field from a postsecondary institution accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) or both.

Preferred Qualifications:

The successful candidate should have a background in educational theory and methodology, as well as graduation from a CODA-approved Dental Assisting education program.

Salary/Benefits:

The salary is commensurate with education and work experience. Benefits include paid state holidays, annual and sick leave, and the State of Georgia Benefits package.
