Job Overview

The Quality Control Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the excellence of our products at Cornerstone Building Brands. This position involves thorough inspections of manufactured components and monitoring of production processes to uphold our high-quality standards.

Compensation Details:

Base pay range is $ per hour, with an additional $1.50 per hour shift differential.

Work Shifts:

1st Shift: 6:00 am - 2:30 pm, Monday-Friday
2nd Shift: 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm, Monday-Friday
(Overtime may be required as needed)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive inspections of fabricated components and in-process controls.
  • Perform audits on packaged and staged shipments to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Monitor and report on all quality-related activities and finished products.
  • Prepare and submit clear and accurate reports on inspections and audits.
  • Utilize various tools and equipment for testing and inspections.
  • Compile daily summaries of quality control activities.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Manager to develop effective problem-solving strategies.
  • Assist in internal and external audits as needed.
  • Maintain continuous improvement practices within the work area.
  • Engage in additional projects or responsibilities as assigned by the Team Leader.
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis and present findings.
  • Inspect incoming raw materials according to established plans.
  • Document and maintain records of inspection results.
  • Complete first article quality reports.
  • Verify calibration of inspection tools and maintain related databases.
  • Perform product testing during manufacturing and document results.
  • Ensure compliance with production practices and quality standards.
  • Assist in documenting and resolving nonconforming materials and discrepancies.
  • Evaluate products to determine acceptability.
  • Conduct start-up and changeover audits to verify product specifications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Language Proficiency:

  • Ability to read and comprehend various documents, including policy manuals and safety instructions, and communicate effectively in one-on-one and small group settings.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Competence in general mathematical calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Some roles may require advanced mathematical skills.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to perform tasks based on written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions.
  • Problem-solving skills involving multiple variables in standard situations.

  • High concentration and attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet deadlines effectively.
  • Experience working with a diverse workforce.
  • Proficiency in reading various measuring devices.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to talk, hear, walk, stand, sit, bend, and use hands for various tasks.
  • Specific vision abilities include close-up and distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.

Work Environment:

  • May involve exposure to moving mechanical parts and hazardous materials.
  • Noise levels may require hearing protection.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory in certain areas.
