Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Insurance Authorization Specialist to join our team at Palo Verde Cancer Specialists. In this role, you will be responsible for obtaining benefits and prior authorizations for scheduled treatments/procedures, educating patients on insurance coverage and benefits, and assessing patients' financial ability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain insurance coverage information and demographics from patients prior to treatment
  • Verify and update patient demographics and insurance coverage in the computer system according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Assess patients' ability to meet expenses and discuss payment arrangements
  • May educate patients on financial assistance programs and identify sources to provide assistance with completing forms
  • Complete Patient Cost Estimate form based on diagnosis, estimated insurance coverage, and financial assistance
  • Complete appropriate reimbursement and liability forms for patient's review and signature
  • Forward information and forms to billing office
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Six months related experience and/or training
  • Knowledge of EMR, medical terminology, ICD-10, and CPT codes
  • Excellent computer skills and ability to work effectively with common office software and medical records software
  • Ability to handle confidential information and sensitive issues
  • Excellent communication, human relations, attention to detail, and organizational skills
Working Conditions

This is a full-time position that requires the ability to work under minimal supervision and make independent decisions using good judgment. The ideal candidate will be able to communicate effectively with various ethnic and cultural backgrounds and obtain necessary resources when language barriers present.
