Our laboratory is recognized by the College of American Pathologists and the American Association of Blood Banks, ensuring high standards of quality and accuracy.

This role encompasses a variety of tasks within a community hospital laboratory setting, where the selected candidate will be expected to operate across different laboratory stations as required.

Position Overview

The individual will perform both high and moderate complexity testing at a foundational level.

General Responsibilities
  • Execute additional tasks as assigned.
  • Adhere to all institutional policies and standards.
  • Refer to departmental documentation for specific duties and responsibilities during orientation.
  • Ensure the secure handling of Protected Health Information (PHI) in compliance with regulations. Annual training and adherence to the UH Code of Conduct are mandatory.
Qualifications:
Educational Background
  • Associate's Degree in medical laboratory technology or
  • Bachelor's degree in biological or chemical sciences is required.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Comprehensive understanding of testing methodologies and quality assurance standards is essential.
  • Basic proficiency in computer operations is required.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Certification as a Medical Lab Technician (MLT-ASCP) or Medical Lab Technologist (MT) is preferred; must be obtained within one year of employment.
Additional Certifications
  • Specific CLIA '88 certification for performing complexity testing is required.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent standing and walking.
  • Occasional sitting.
  • Regular lifting and carrying of items up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent pushing and pulling of loads up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional climbing and balancing.
  • Frequent stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Constant engagement in repetitive motions and coordination tasks.
