Position Overview:
As a key member of the psychiatric team, the Staff Psychiatrist will engage in comprehensive evaluation and management of inpatients. This role involves:

Core Responsibilities:
1. Conduct thorough admissions, evaluations, diagnoses, and regular follow-ups with hospitalized patients.
2. Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to formulate effective treatment plans.
3. Provide education to patients and their families about psychiatric symptoms and treatment options.
4. Deliver precise and timely discharge instructions to outpatient care providers and families.
5. Offer expert consultation for inpatients and emergency cases.
6. Participate in on-call coverage for the Emergency Department and inpatient units.
7. Support physicians during weekend coverage.

Educational and Quality Improvement Activities:
1. Attend relevant educational and organizational meetings.
2. Share knowledge with medical staff, hospital personnel, and the community regarding psychiatric assessments and treatments.
3. Engage in continuing medical education pertinent to the role.
4. Contribute to hospital initiatives aimed at enhancing patient safety and minimizing medical errors.
5. Strive to achieve patient outcomes that meet or exceed established standards based on comparative data and peer reviews.

Patient Care Standards:
1. Provide high-quality patient services that align with evidence-based guidelines.
2. Prescribe medications in accordance with established medical protocols.
3. Maintain accurate medical records as per institutional bylaws.
4. Ensure prompt and effective patient care.
5. Address patient dissatisfaction in a timely and appropriate manner.
6. Foster effective communication with patients, families, and other healthcare providers.
7. Manage patient care resources, including team members, in line with service line standards.

Professional Conduct:
1. Uphold a professional demeanor in all interactions with patients, families, and colleagues to promote a culture of respect and cooperation.
2. Resolve conflicts constructively and discreetly.
3. Safeguard patient privacy during discussions.

Qualifications:
Education:
MD or DO degree from an accredited medical institution.

Experience:
Minimum of two years providing inpatient, outpatient, or consultative psychiatric services, with experience managing at least 30 patients during this period.

Licenses and Certifications:
Current unrestricted medical license in the State of Oregon and valid DEA certification. Board certification in Psychiatry is required, or board eligibility with certification to be achieved within five years.

Essential Skills:
Knowledge of Lean methodology is preferred.
