GSE Mechanic Apprentice Position

Description:
Ascent Aviation Services is a leading provider of aviation maintenance, repair, and overhaul services. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled GSE Mechanic Apprentice to join our team.
The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience and knowledge in the repair and maintenance of ground support equipment, including tugs, forklifts, and payloaders. The role will involve working in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with experienced mechanics, and contributing to the safe and efficient operation of our facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and complete work orders, obtaining necessary tools and materials as required.
- Transport vehicles to be repaired, using driving, towing, or pushing methods as necessary.
- Inspect parts and motor vehicles to identify defective or broken components.
- Repair hydraulic, electric, and mechanical systems, including diesel engines, batteries, tires, oil, and other minor repairs.
- Obtain replacement parts, install, and make repairs as required, including assisting with rebuilding assemblies and systems.
- Collaborate with managers and GSE mechanics for complex repairs, requiring direction or approval for ordering parts.
- Complete work orders and provide status on any open work orders as instructed.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
- Valid Arizona Driver's License required.
- Knowledge of mechanical equipment and repair, including hand and power tools, and common repair hardware.
- Ability to read, write, and understand the English language.
Working Conditions:
- Physical demands include lifting, standing, sitting, bending, and walking.
- Equipment operated includes man-lifts, scissor-lifts, pick-up trucks, and forklifts.
- Work location is the Ground Support Building.
- Potential hazards include noise exposure and chemical exposure.
Protective Equipment Required:
- Safety shoes.
- Hearing protection.
- Eye protection.
