MRI Imaging Specialist

Overview:
The MRI Imaging Specialist operates autonomously, executing intricate and specialized imaging procedures. This role requires proficiency in utilizing a diverse range of imaging technology and computer systems. The incumbent is responsible for conducting preliminary MRI screenings for patients and staff, overseeing equipment maintenance and repairs, engaging in quality assurance activities, and addressing MRI safety concerns. The technologist must possess the expertise to make swift and precise technical decisions to accommodate various physical limitations and medical conditions. Continuous involvement in MRI education, safety protocols, quality assurance, and technological advancements is integral to clinical imaging practices. Effective communication and behavior must reflect the core values and mission of Christus Health.
Key Responsibilities:
• Uphold the standards of the OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Conduct a range of diagnostic imaging procedures, including more complex tasks, using advanced computerized MRI diagnostic equipment.
• Exhibit proficiency in performing MRI examinations, procedures, and utilizing pressurized injection systems.
• Support Radiologists during invasive and biopsy procedures by using MRI technology to accurately identify anatomical sites.
• After completing procedures, ensure that the computer systems are programmed to confirm the completion of exams and that all imaging data is accurately archived in PACS for future reference.
• Organize and prioritize daily procedures to maintain high standards of patient care and service continuity.
• Verify that all charges are accurately coded and entered into the billing system.
• Demonstrate and sustain competence across all age groups to ensure the proper execution of imaging studies.
• Tailor patient assessments, treatments, and care methods to meet the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and developmental needs of each individual.
• Adhere to all policies, procedures, and standards set forth by state and federal agencies, the healthcare facility, and other regulatory bodies.
• Execute all responsibilities in a manner that safeguards patient confidentiality and refrains from disclosing any confidential information unless necessary for job functions.
• Basic computer skills are essential.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Excellent customer service abilities are necessary.
• Demonstrate commitment to the core values of Christus Health.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education/Skills:
- Graduation from an AMA accredited School of Radiological Sciences or an equivalent program is required.
Experience:
- Preferred: 1 year of experience in a hospital or clinical environment.
- Highly preferred: 3 years of experience in a clinical imaging setting.
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) certification from ARRT or ARMRIT is preferred.
- Current state licensure is required.
- Current BLS certification (American Heart Association) is required.
