Overview:
The MRI Imaging Specialist operates autonomously, executing intricate and specialized imaging procedures. This role requires proficiency in utilizing a diverse range of imaging technologies and computer systems. The incumbent is responsible for conducting preliminary MRI screenings for patients and staff, overseeing equipment maintenance and repairs, engaging in quality assurance activities, and addressing MRI safety concerns. The technologist must possess the expertise to make prompt and highly technical decisions to accommodate various physical limitations and medical conditions. Continuous involvement in MRI education, safety protocols, quality assurance, and technological advancements is essential alongside clinical imaging duties. Effective communication and behavioral skills must align with the mission, values, and culture of Christus Health.
Key Responsibilities:
• Adheres to the OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Conducts a range of diagnostic imaging procedures, including complex examinations, using advanced computerized MRI diagnostic equipment.
• Demonstrates proficiency in MRI examinations, procedures, and the operation of pressurized injection devices.
• Assists Radiologists in performing invasive and biopsy procedures utilizing MRI technology to accurately locate anatomical structures.
• After completing imaging procedures, the technologist ensures that the computer is programmed to finalize the examination and that all scan data is accurately stored in the PACS system for future reference.
• Organizes and prioritizes daily procedures to maintain exceptional patient care and service continuity.
• Verifies that all charges are accurately coded and entered into the billing system.
• Maintains competence across all age groups to ensure the proper execution of imaging studies.
• Adapts patient assessment and care methods to meet the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and developmental needs of each patient.
• Ensures compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and standards established by state and federal agencies, the healthcare facility, and other regulatory bodies.
• Conducts all responsibilities in a manner that safeguards patient confidentiality and refrains from disclosing any confidential information unless necessary for job performance.
• Basic computer skills are required.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• Strong customer service skills are mandatory.

• Performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education/Skills:
- Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Radiological Sciences or an equivalent accredited program is required.
Experience:
- Preferred: 1 year of experience in a hospital or clinical environment.
- Highly preferred: 3 years of experience in a clinical imaging setting.
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) certification from ARRT or ARMRIT is preferred.
- Current state licensure is required.
- Current BLS certification (American Heart Association) is required.
