The incumbent is responsible for conducting preliminary MRI screenings for patients and staff, overseeing equipment maintenance and repairs, engaging in quality assurance activities, and addressing MRI safety concerns. The technologist must possess the expertise to make prompt and technically sound decisions to accommodate various physical limitations and medical conditions. Continuous involvement in MRI education, safety protocols, quality assurance, and technological advancements is essential alongside clinical imaging tasks. Effective communication and behavior must reflect the core values and mission of Christus Health.

Key Responsibilities:


• Adheres to the OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.

• Conducts a range of diagnostic imaging procedures, including complex cases, using advanced computerized MRI equipment.

• Demonstrates proficiency in MRI examinations, procedures, and the operation of pressurized injection systems.

• Assists Radiologists in conducting invasive procedures and biopsies, utilizing MRI technology to accurately identify anatomical sites.

• After completing imaging procedures, the technologist ensures the computer is programmed to finalize the exam and securely stores all scan data in the PACS system for future reference.

• Organizes and prioritizes daily procedures to uphold a high standard of patient care and service continuity.

• Accurately codes and enters all charges into the billing system.

• Maintains competence across all age groups to ensure the proper execution of imaging studies.

• Adapts patient assessment and care methods to meet the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and developmental needs of each individual.

• Ensures compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and standards established by state and federal agencies, the hospital, and other regulatory bodies.

• Performs all responsibilities while safeguarding patient confidentiality and refraining from disclosing any sensitive information unless necessary for job functions.

• Basic computer literacy is required.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential.

• Strong customer service abilities are required.

• Demonstrates commitment to the core values of Christus Health.

• Undertakes additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education/Skills:

  • Graduation from an AMA accredited School of Radiological Sciences or an equivalent program is required.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a hospital or clinical environment is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a clinical imaging setting is highly preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:

  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) certification from ARRT or ARMRIT is preferred.
  • Current state licensure is required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.
