Drill Operator 3rd Shift

This is a skilled position that requires the ability to operate a drill press to perform various machining operations on metal workpieces. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of blueprint reading, tooling instructions, and safety procedures.
Key Responsibilities:- Operate a drill press to perform drilling, countersinking, spot facing, and tapping operations on metal workpieces.
- Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and tooling instructions to determine specifications and requirements.
- Communicate with team leaders to determine the correct tooling and method of producing assigned jobs.
- Secure specified tool in spindle and position workpiece in fixture or jig.
- Manually operate feed lever to feed tool to specified depth in workpiece.
- Turn valve handle to start flow of coolant against tool and workpiece or dip tool in cutting oil prior to mounting.
- Remove any sharp edges on part by using a de-burring tool.
- Verify conformance of machined workpieces to specifications.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one to three months related experience and/or training.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to communicate job-related issues with supervisor, team leaders, and other employees.
- Mathematical skills to convert decimal and fractional dimensions and use mathematical and geometric devices.
The work environment is a machine shop with moderate noise levels and exposure to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
