Apple is looking for a technical leader to oversee the program management of our innovative cellular baseband modems, ensuring they meet performance, quality, and scheduling benchmarks for Apple products. You will coordinate multi-functional teams, facilitate communication, and represent the systems and silicon engineering ecosystem from concept through to production.

A solid technical foundation in cellular systems engineering will be essential for your success in this position.

Ideally, you will also possess proven project management experience in modem architecture, requirements engineering, and/or cellular platform/system development.

In this diverse engineering environment, you will need strong multi-tasking abilities and real-time crisis management skills.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of cellular modem systems across multiple projects while achieving execution targets.

  • Oversee all facets of modem development: PHY, MAC/RLC/RRC, multisim or concurrent RAT operation, etc.
  • Monitor project timelines for all development stages: architecture, design, prototyping, system bring-up, validation, integration, field testing, interoperability testing, and production ramp-up.
  • Facilitate the finalization of technical requirements/specifications with cellular system partners, ensure compliance with requirements, address issues, and drive bug resolution.
  • Collaborate with multifunctional teams and organizations to advance progress on dependencies for requirement definition, architectural exploration, and implementation.
  • Identify potential risks, develop mitigation strategies, and assist in conflict resolution.
  • Resolve technical challenges between functional teams: Modem systems, VLSI, FW, RF systems, Technology, IP owners, design, digital verification, firmware/software, characterization, testing, etc.
  • Deliver regular project status updates for executive reviews, distilling extensive data into a clear narrative for communication with partners and organizations at all levels.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and over 10 years of relevant industry experience
- Hands-on engineering management/leadership or program/project management experience.
- Experience in the development of Wi-Fi, wireless baseband modem systems, algorithms, hardware, and/or firmware.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of wireless communications (OFDM/MIMO, etc.).
- Familiarity with wireless standards is a significant advantage (5G-NR/4G LTE/UMTS/GSM/CDMA).
- Understanding of end-to-end systems involving the UE and network is desired.
- Experience in leading algorithm development, modeling, and systems simulation.
- Good understanding of modern cellular PHY building blocks.
- Ability to quickly establish and manage complex multi-functional relationships in a dynamic engineering environment.
- Exceptional team player and creative problem solver with the ability to lead technical teams and multi-functional groups towards established goals.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills at the senior management level, including strong presentation capabilities.

Compensation & Benefits:
At Apple, base pay is one component of our comprehensive compensation package and is determined within a specified range. This structure allows for growth as you advance in your role.

The base pay range for this position is between $165,500 and $293,800, with your base pay dependent on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become shareholders through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.

Employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards and can purchase Apple stock at a discount through the Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
