Position Overview

The Logistics and Inventory Specialist plays a crucial role in overseeing and managing the distribution and warehouse operations of the venue. This includes responsibilities such as inventory management, receiving shipments, tracking purchase orders, maintaining cleanliness, facilitating transfers, and ensuring the upkeep of warehouse equipment. The specialist is expected to deliver a high standard of oversight, technical expertise, and operational support to guarantee the efficient functioning of the food and beverage services.

This position is vital for the successful and profitable operation of the organization. The individual must demonstrate excellent attendance and possess the flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends. Open availability, a professional demeanor, exceptional interpersonal skills, self-motivation, and strong decision-making capabilities are essential.

The Logistics and Inventory Specialist operates independently; however, depending on business needs, may be required to oversee fellow warehouse staff and/or interns, fostering a positive and collaborative work atmosphere.

Compensation

This role offers an hourly wage ranging from $17 to $22.

Venue Information

The Palm Beach County Convention Center is a versatile facility located in West Palm Beach, Florida, managed by Oak View Group. The venue boasts a 100,000 square-foot exhibit hall, a 22,000 square-foot ballroom, and 21,000 square feet of adaptable meeting space, in addition to its connection to a 400-room hotel.

Key Responsibilities

Warehouse Management
 Oversee the receiving, distribution, and control of food, beverages, equipment, and supplies for the food and beverage operations.
 Ensure all products are stored correctly and rotated using FIFO (First In, First Out) methods.
 Manage inventory to optimize ordering processes and maintain adequate stock levels.
 Identify and eliminate obsolete inventory.
 Establish and maintain PAR inventory levels for essential items.
 Track spoilage reports for expired or spoiled products.
 Develop strategies for efficient storage across all food and beverage storage areas.
 Assist in optimizing inventory travel paths to minimize waste.
 Ensure appropriate stocking levels for each event and maintain product integrity.
 Oversee the transfer process of products between locations, ensuring proper documentation.
 Maintain sanitation and organizational systems for all food and beverage storage areas, including warehouses, concessions, kitchens, and pantries.
 Conduct end-of-day inspections of the commissary, warehouse, and storage areas to ensure cleanliness and organization.

Inventory Control
 Update the inventory guide with accurate items, pricing, and stock levels.
 Lead the monthly inventory process, collaborating with department heads to ensure accurate completion.
 Review inventory sheets submitted by departments for accuracy.
 Conduct audits of inventory items each period, ensuring a minimum recount of 15 items from various categories.
 Maintain a perpetual inventory of at least 10 items as assigned by management.

Sustainability Initiatives
 Spearhead sustainability efforts within the food and beverage operations.
 Identify, coordinate, and facilitate initiatives that promote environmental, energy, economic, and social sustainability.
 Assist in training all food and beverage staff to foster a culture of sustainability within the organization.

Administrative Duties
 Ensure that Purchase Orders and Order Logs are completed and filed as required.
 Support the Office Manager with invoices and purchase orders as needed. Perform additional duties as assigned.
 Be willing and available to assist with catering or concessions operations as directed by the management team.

Required Qualifications

Physical Requirements
This position involves extensive standing and walking. Routine activities necessitate the ability to reach, sit, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. The employee must frequently lift up to 50 pounds and operate pallet jacks and forklifts. Vision requirements include the ability to adjust focus, peripheral vision, and close vision.

Additional Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent. Proficiency in computer skills, including Excel. Strong mathematical skills. Minimum of 2 years of experience in food service. Previous warehouse experience is advantageous. Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification. Serve Safe food service certification.
