Position Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Cost Accountant who will play a pivotal role in enhancing our financial accuracy and implementing best practices in cost accounting. This position will focus on ensuring precise allocation of costs to projects and cost centers, analyzing expenditures, managing project budgets, and overseeing financial reporting related to grants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of daily and period-end closing activities related to inventory and associated reserves, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Oversee comprehensive inventory processes, including costing and valuation.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Costing methodologies.
  • Analyze and update Landed Cost metrics.
  • Collaborate with various departments such as Accounts Payable, Production, and Logistics to guarantee accurate inventory data and cost allocations.
  • Manage the inventory cycle count program effectively.
  • Work closely with the Corporate Controller to manage reserves and address excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Monitor daily inventory accounting reports to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Establish and enforce internal controls to protect inventory integrity.
  • Track project costs, including incurred expenses and accruals.
  • Assist in financial audits and recommend improvements to ensure compliance with accounting standards.
  • Support the implementation of additional modules in our accounting software.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior accounting role, particularly in inventory and job costing.
  • Proficient in GAAP and relevant accounting software, particularly NetSuite.

Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with NetSuite is highly advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing operations and cost accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP as it pertains to manufacturing environments.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments while also being a self-starter.
