Position Summary

The Housing Specialist plays a crucial role in guiding eligible participants through our housing program. This position focuses on providing essential housing search assistance and supportive services aimed at fostering self-sufficiency and community integration for participants. The Housing Specialist will manage a caseload, performing duties both in the office and within the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate housing challenges faced by individuals and families experiencing homelessness to identify their needs.
  • Collaborate with clients to create tailored housing procurement and self-sufficiency plans, including conducting intake interviews.
  • Advocate for clients with landlords to facilitate housing acquisition and retention.
  • Assist participants in finding and securing suitable housing options.
  • Maintain effective communication with all parties involved, including tenants, landlords, and social service agencies.
  • Act as a liaison between property managers and participants, as well as between participants and their neighbors.
  • Provide information and referrals to relevant community resources and support services.
  • Encourage clients to adhere to personal budgeting practices through proactive counseling sessions.
  • Support participants in developing individualized action plans that promote permanent housing and self-sufficiency.
  • Identify strengths and barriers to stability for participants and assist in linking them to necessary resources.
  • Conduct follow-up visits to ensure ongoing stability and progress towards self-sufficiency.
  • Educate clients on their rights and responsibilities regarding residential lease agreements.
  • Transport clients as needed for housing and job search activities.
  • Collect and report program data as required.
Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or GED is required.

Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in direct care within healthcare settings.

Regulatory Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must pass a criminal background check and obtain an AZ DPS Level 1 fingerprint clearance card.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and proof of insurance.
  • CPR and First Aid certification is preferred but not mandatory.
