Join the Penn State Extension Livestock Team

Penn State Extension is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Extension Educator to join our Livestock Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing educational programs that address the needs of livestock producers, employees, and industry representatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, design, implement, and evaluate educational and applied research programs in livestock production.
  • Provide education and technical assistance in areas such as business management, marketing, health, nutrition, feeding management, production, reproduction, genetics, and nutrient management.
  • Conduct Extension education programs using a variety of innovative and informal methodologies.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree or higher in a relevant field, such as animal science, agricultural education, or a related field.
  • 1 or more years of relevant experience in livestock production or a related field.
  • Experience in all types of livestock production is preferred, with a strong background in beef or small ruminant production being highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team and engage with diverse populations and audiences.
  • Valid driver's license, access to a private automobile, and willingness to travel the state of Pennsylvania.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Commitment to fostering diverse, equitable, and inclusive programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with proficiency in other languages valued.
