Extension Educator, 4-H Youth Development Specialist

Penn State Extension is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Extension Educator to join our team in Mercer County. As an Extension Educator, you will be responsible for implementing and managing the 4-H Youth Development program in Mercer County, working closely with local stakeholders, volunteers, and youth to deliver high-quality programs and services.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement educational programs, materials, and activities for 4-H youth and adults, aligned with the Pennsylvania 4-H program goals and objectives.
- Recruit, train, and support adult volunteers to deliver 4-H programs and services.
- Build and maintain partnerships with local organizations, schools, and community groups to promote the 4-H program and expand its reach.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the County 4-H Program Development Committee to plan and implement the local 4-H program.
- Develop and manage a revenue enhancement portfolio to support the 4-H program.
- Collaborate with other Penn State Extension staff and partners to leverage resources and expertise.
- Ensure effective communication with volunteers, youth, and parents to ensure a quality experience.
- Manage and coordinate 4-H youth events, including registration, supervision, and transportation.
- Implement program evaluation, documentation, and reporting to ensure accountability and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field, such as youth development, agriculture, education, or a related field.
- Experience working with youth and adults in a program or educational setting.
- Strong communication, leadership, and program development skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including volunteers, youth, and community leaders.
- Valid driver's license and access to a private vehicle.
- Ability to carry equipment and educational materials, with or without accommodation.
Penn State Extension offers a competitive salary and benefits package, as well as opportunities for professional development and growth. We are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and strive to create a work environment that is welcoming and inclusive for all employees.
This is a limited-term position funded for one year from the date of hire, with an excellent possibility of renewal. The salary range for this position is $42,000 to $61,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
