About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Facilities Engineering and Design Team at Olsson. As a key member of our team, you will provide high-level technical support and lead quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) activities that drive excellence in healthcare facilities design.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Design and Review of Mechanical Systems: You will lead the design and review of mechanical systems for complex healthcare facilities projects, ensuring that our designs meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
  • Technical Specialist: As a technical specialist, you will apply advanced mechanical engineering concepts to address the unique challenges of healthcare environments, providing innovative solutions that improve patient care and operational efficiency.
  • Quality Assurance/Quality Control: You will perform QA/QC and ensure that mechanical designs meet project objectives and regulatory standards, maintaining the highest level of quality in our work.
  • Research and Development: You will conduct research to inform innovative design solutions that improve patient care and operational efficiency, staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies.
  • Technical Leadership: You will advise and direct staff on mechanical design approaches to meet project requirements and client expectations, providing guidance and support to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Collaboration and Integration: You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate mechanical systems seamlessly into overall project designs, ensuring that our work meets the needs of our clients and stakeholders.
  • Standards and Guidelines: You will contribute to the development of standards and guidelines for mechanical engineering activities within the team, helping to establish best practices and ensure consistency in our work.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Strong Communication Skills: You will have excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Proven Technical Expertise: You will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality results in complex healthcare facilities design projects.
  • Leadership and Technical Skills: You will have excellent leadership and technical skills, with the ability to provide guidance and support to team members and clients.
  • Industry Certifications: You will have relevant industry certifications, such as ASHRAE Healthcare Facilities Design Professional (HFDP), ASSE 6060 Medical Gas Systems Designer, and/or ASSE 12080 Certified Legionella Water Safety & Management Specialist.
  • Membership in Professional Organizations: You will be a member of a state or national chapter of the American Society of Healthcare Engineers (ASHE) or equivalent, with experience in National Codes/Standards development and participation in relevant committees.
