Job Summary

The Inpatient Nurse Practitioner plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care to inpatients, including complex and chronically ill patients, in collaboration with the department of medicine specialty. This position requires a strong clinical leader who can provide comprehensive physical assessments, diagnoses, planning, implementation, and evaluation for patients and their families. The successful candidate will also function as a consultant and educator, working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide primary care to inpatients, including complex and chronically ill patients, in collaboration with the department of medicine specialty.
  • Conduct comprehensive physical assessments, diagnoses, planning, implementation, and evaluation for patients and their families.
  • Function as a clinical leader, consultant, and educator, working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members.
  • Support the philosophies of the department of nursing and the medical staff.
  • Perform procedures under Standardized Procedures per Medical Staff Privileges.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Nursing - Graduated from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Nurse Practitioner, State of California.
  • Current California RN License.
  • Nurse Practitioner Furnisher, State of CA.
  • Nurse Practitioner Furnishing, State of CA, Controlled Substance II Privileges (for positions that require the writing of scheduled II medications).
  • DEA number (for positions that require the writing of scheduled medications; each department to identify which class needed CS II thru V).
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers, issued by AHA.
  • PALS certification (Issued by American Heart Association).
  • Successfully complete the credentialing process through Medical Staff Services.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2 years of experience.
  • Two years of experience in clinical nursing with emphasis in specialty area.
  • DEA number (for positions that require the writing of scheduled medications; Each department to identify which class needed CS II thru V).
  • National Certification in specialty area as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Formal education and/or lecturing skills.
Compensation

The expected hiring range for this position is $67.58 to $92.93. Rady Children's Hospital is committed to compensation that is externally competitive and internally equitable. We demonstrate this commitment by conducting regular market reviews to remain competitive with organizations of similar size in the nonprofit, healthcare sector.
