The Production Engineering Specialist is responsible for overseeing Columbia Helicopters' internal manufacturing techniques and the production processes of external suppliers for both new and existing designs. This role encompasses the development of manufacturing techniques, established planning, and processes aimed at producing components efficiently and effectively. The Manufacturing Manager evaluates, sets, and enforces requirements for equipment, tooling, materials, and manufacturing methods, including decisions on in-house versus outsourced production. This position also entails the creation and maintenance of precise bills of materials and manufacturing routers for all products.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • 25% - Collaborates with management, Design Engineering, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, Suppliers, and other personnel regarding manufacturing capabilities, production timelines, and other factors to resolve engineering-related production issues and enhance production processes for new components.
  • 20% - Analyzes engineering schematics. Facilitates the rectification of discrepancies in drawings and documents all pertinent information identified during manufacturing and maintenance activities.
  • 20% - Drafts Engineering Change Orders (ECO) and modifies Engineering Drawings to update data and support manufacturing and maintenance tasks.
  • 20% - Investigates reports of defective, damaged, or malfunctioning components, assemblies, systems, or equipment to ascertain the nature of the issue and propose potential solutions for submission to the Material Review Board (MRB).
  • 15% - Orchestrates the manufacturing launch of new or revised components, including setting objectives, training personnel, and assessing outcomes.
  • Exhibits conduct in alignment with the Company's Core Values.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Aeronautical Engineering or 5-10 years of equivalent manufacturing experience.
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in the Aviation/Aerospace sector.
  • Comprehension of engineering drawings, specifications, maintenance manuals, structural repair manuals, and parts catalogs.
  • Familiarity with fundamental engineering processes (requirements evaluations and analysis).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledgeable in SolidWorks and Product Data Management Software.
  • Strong organizational abilities.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, capable of presenting ideas, concepts, and proposals to a diverse range of internal and external audiences at all levels, both technical and non-technical.
