Aircraft Maintenance Technician Job Description

Columbia Helicopters is seeking a skilled Aircraft Maintenance Technician to join our team. As an Aircraft Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for the overhaul, repair, inspection, and testing of various aircraft components and parts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret maintenance manuals or other technical data to determine the feasibility and method to perform assigned tasks.
  • Clean and inspect aircraft components and parts for damage and wear using visual examination, special tooling, and appropriate equipment.
  • Follow shop standard work procedures for clean up and equipment preventive maintenance.
  • Replace or repair damaged or worn aircraft parts and components using general hand tools, special tools, pneumatic tools, and precision measuring equipment.
  • Assemble components with same tools and equipment.
  • Perform tests and/or checks as required to confirm aircraft parts serviceability utilizing special tools and appropriate equipment.
  • Properly document all inspection findings and work performed/corrective action in the appropriate maintenance records to meet established standards.
  • Maintain work areas and tools in a clean and organized manner.
  • Practice proper tool and FOD control.
  • Perform work safely and utilize the appropriate technical data for the assigned task.
  • Monitor and support continuous improvement activities by utilizing Lean and continuous improvement tools while striving to identify and eliminate waste in all forms to improve quality and safety, decrease lead time, and reduce cost.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; further education or advance instruction relative to technical field is desired.
  • Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license preferred (Airframe license is equivalent to one year's experience; Powerplant license is equivalent to one year's experience; A&P license is equivalent to 2 years' experience).
  • Documented military or commercial aircraft maintenance and/or component maintenance training preferred.
  • Four plus years' mechanical experience preferred.
  • A strong aptitude for acquiring new mechanical skills and knowledge required.
  • Experience on Boeing 107/CH46 or Boeing 234/CH47 aircraft components preferred.
  • Training and experience utilizing Lean methods in a production environment preferred.
  • Ability to locate, read and follow the technical data appropriate for the assigned task.
  • Ability to use precision measuring equipment and hand tools appropriate to the assigned tasks.
  • Ability to work overtime and/or weekends as assigned, dependent on production needs.
  • Ability to work in a shop environment or work outdoors locally or in remote locations as needed for customer support.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
