Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team at Tesla's Gigafactory in Sparks, Nevada. As a key member of our Semi-truck Program, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality standards are met in our manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Quality Planning and Control: Develop and maintain product quality plans and control plans, quality performance metrics, and drive issues to root cause solutions.
  • Manufacturing Line Audits: Conduct audits of manufacturing lines against released manufacturing processes and procedures, and assist in the identification and resolution of manufacturing quality issues.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Monitor quality, determine the root cause of problems, and implement corrective actions and countermeasures.
  • Engineering Change Orders: Process and implement Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) as required, and participate in the ongoing optimization of products with respect to both cost and production technology.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement activities with manufacturing and external suppliers, and work with Supply Quality Engineering and suppliers to develop specifications that support production requirements.
  • Design for Manufacturability: Provide design for manufacturability feedback to Engineering, and participate in DFM reviews and analyze and disposition component and product defects as a member of the Material Review Board.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze and interpret data independently, anticipate potential problems, and take preventative action, and support PFMEA activities to ensure design and manufacturing issues are identified and risks mitigated.
Requirements
  • Quality Systems Experience: Experience within quality systems in a high-volume manufacturing environment (QS-9000, ISO/TS 16949, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, DFMEA, PFMEA preferred, and GD&T knowledge is helpful).
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills, and a strong aptitude for electronic test and measurement systems.
  • Trucking Experience: Trucking experience (Volvo, Daimler) and MySQL preferred.
  • Lean Manufacturing Knowledge: Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and wiring diagrams, and knowledge of Lean Manufacturing practices, 5S, TPS, TQM, etc. highly desired.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, and ability to lift and sort parts of up to 30 pounds as needed.
  • Technical Skills: Detail-oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills, and familiarity with basic MS Office Suite/Excel is required.
  • Language Skills: Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal.
