Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce laws and regulations related to animal care and control, including responding to animal-related emergencies and providing assistance to the public.
  • Investigate animal-related complaints and incidents, and take appropriate action to ensure public safety and animal welfare.
  • Provide education and outreach to the community on animal welfare and safety, including conducting presentations and workshops.
  • Collaborate with other agencies and organizations to promote animal welfare and safety, and to develop and implement policies and procedures related to animal control and protection.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Four years of experience handling animals, with at least two years of experience in animal control and protection.
  • Valid State of Hawaii driver's license (Class 3) or any other valid comparable driver's license at the time of filing.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to respond to emergency situations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with the public, other agencies, and community groups.
