Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Managing Adult Corrections Officer III to join our team at the State of Hawaii. As a key member of our corrections team, you will be responsible for managing the operations and maintenance of an adult correctional facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the provision of appropriate and proper care, custody, and services to adult inmates.
  • Develop and implement security and control plans and procedures.
  • Supervise and administer educational, vocational training, counseling, and therapeutic programs.
  • Ensure the provision of safe and sanitary living conditions and medical and food services.
  • Direct the maintenance and repair of the physical plant and facilities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in sociology, psychology, criminology, penology, criminal justice administration, or other related behavioral science or criminal justice field.
  • Two years of responsible experience as a Corrections Officer, with a minimum of one year of experience in a supervisory or management role.
  • Specialized experience in corrections administration, including experience in planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating correctional activities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience in corrections management, including experience in budgeting, personnel management, and facility operations.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, and standards related to corrections.
