Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Agricultural Research Technician III to join our team at the State of Hawaii. As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for conducting a variety of functions in the conduct of agricultural research and operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of functions in the conduct of agricultural research and operations
  • Conduct experiments and collect data to support research projects
  • Develop and implement research plans and protocols
  • Collaborate with other researchers and stakeholders to achieve research goals
  • Prepare and present research findings to internal and external audiences
Requirements
  • One year of work experience in the operation of a farm or related agricultural laboratory or industry
  • Knowledge of basic farming methods, routine agricultural work operations and processes
  • Ability to use standard agricultural tools and equipment, perform manual and repetitive work, read, understand and follow oral and written instructions, and perform arithmetic computations
  • Specialized experience in performing agricultural activities involving recordation, comparison, evaluation, experimentation and drawing conclusions from data
  • Knowledge of experimental design requirements and farming methods
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education in agriculture or a related field
  • Experience with precision research work methods
  • Knowledge of crop propagation, care of farm animals and poultry, safety precautions, use of fertilizers, insecticides and herbicides, care and use of pastures, and care of farm tools and equipment
