ROLE SUMMARY

The Yard Operations Specialist plays a crucial role in maintaining the organization and efficiency of the yard, ensuring safe and effective operations at both the yard and associated off-site locations. This position involves various responsibilities related to the construction yard, including adherence to occupational and environmental health and safety standards, management of the yard team, inventory control, and performing minor vehicle maintenance as required.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage material and equipment inventory, ensuring timely restocking.
  • Oversee yard layout and the arrangement of equipment.
  • Maintain the organization of the yard, including routine maintenance and cleanup tasks.
  • Assist in loading and unloading materials from delivery trucks or company vehicles.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the workshop area: sweeping, cleaning surfaces, storing parts, and disposing of waste.
  • Operate power-driven equipment as necessary for yard maintenance, including leaf blowers, weed trimmers, and forklifts.
  • Perform minor repairs on equipment as directed.
  • Adhere to company and federal safety regulations, including the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) and addressing safety concerns appropriately.
  • Handle hazardous materials when required.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Possession of a valid Class C Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Familiarity with the safe and proper use of tools and equipment.
  • Understanding of equipment, materials, and supplies used in heavy/highway construction is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills are essential; inventory management experience is a plus.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Capability to work independently and complete daily tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in understanding and following written and verbal instructions.
  • Dependable attendance and consistency in work schedule are required.

EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Forklift certification is advantageous.
  • Mechanical aptitude is preferred.
  • Experience operating a forklift and front-end loader is a plus.
