Job Summary

The Clinical Nurse Specialist delivers expert nursing care through meticulous assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation in line with established service line protocols.

This role is essential in fostering a secure work environment and executing all job functions safely.

The Clinical Nurse Specialist upholds clinical and professional proficiency tailored to the age, culture, developmental stages, and specific needs of the patients served.

Essential Functions

1. Gathers relevant data concerning the health of healthcare consumers or the situation.
2. Evaluates the assessment data to ascertain diagnoses or issues.
3. Defines anticipated outcomes for a personalized care plan.
4. Formulates a strategy that outlines methods and alternatives to achieve expected outcomes.
5. Executes the established plan, coordinates care delivery, and utilizes strategies to enhance health and ensure a safe environment.
6. Assesses progress towards achieving outcomes.
7. Delegates care components to suitable healthcare personnel in accordance with applicable legal or policy guidelines.

Physical Requirements
Position requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling. Must be capable of lifting and supporting 35 pounds when handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies. Proficiency in English is necessary for clear communication. Must possess intact senses of sight, hearing, smell, and touch. Finger dexterity, critical thinking, and the ability to focus are essential. Must be able to react swiftly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions. Physical abilities testing is mandatory. Additional department-specific physical requirements may be outlined by the nurse leader.
Education, Experience, and Certifications
Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. A BSN is preferred. BLS certification is required per policy guidelines.

Must hold a current RN license or a temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner in the state of practice and residence, or if designating a National License Compact (NLC) state as the primary state of residency, fulfill the licensure criteria in the home state; for Non-National License Compact states, a current RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner is required in the state of employment.

Additional education, training, certifications, or experience may be mandated within the department by the nurse leader.
