Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage patient check-in, verify demographic and insurance information, and maintain accurate records in our computer database.
  • Assist with answering phones, taking messages, and responding to patient and staff inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Respond to requests for patient account corrections and maintenance, ensuring timely resolution and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Schedule appointments for patients in accordance with physician guidelines, ensuring efficient use of time and resources.
  • Collect time-of-service payments, prior balances, and arrange payment plans as requested, maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.

Additional Duties:

  • Check in patients, verify and update necessary information in the medical record, and assist with completing all necessary forms.
  • Schedule appointments according to clinician templates and follow office scheduling policies, ensuring seamless coordination.
  • Assist the front office lead/supervisor with administrative duties, including front-end tasks, denials, work queues, and error correction to ensure clean claims.
  • Screen visitors, respond to routine requests for information, and maintain confidentiality in all interactions.
  • Follow CHRISTUS Health guidelines related to HIPAA, ensuring the protection of patient health information.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and use effective communication skills to convey ideas in a clear, positive manner.
  • Perform job responsibilities in a manner consistent with the CHRISTUS Mission and Code of Ethics, supporting the company's cultural diversity objectives.
  • Support and adhere to the CHRISTUS Service Guarantee and perform other related work as assigned by leadership.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred.
  • Knowledge of managed care and experience in a healthcare organization preferred.
  • Ability to operate a 10-key calculator, telephone, computer, copier, and fax machine, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good math knowledge and experience with charge posting or collections preferred.
  • ICD9 and CPT coding skills (advanced) and experience with scheduling software preferred.
