Sterile Processing Specialist

Job Summary:
The Sterile Processing Specialist is responsible for the care and preparation of surgical instruments and supplies. This role requires attention to detail and the ability to maintain established inventory levels by checking supplies and equipment. The specialist will also be responsible for ordering supplies for the area and performing testing of all sterilizers, keeping accurate records.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain inventory levels of surgical instruments and supplies
- Check and prepare surgical instruments for use
- Order supplies for the area
- Perform testing of all sterilizers and maintain accurate records
Requirements:
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Instrument technician experience or equivalent experience in hospital materials management department
- Sterile Processing Certification Required
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of standard precautions, aseptic technique, and principles of sterilization and instrument handling
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
