Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Revenue Controller to join our finance team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the corporate revenue accounting function, ensuring accurate revenue recognition, and maintaining compliance with internal policies and accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Establish and maintain revenue and bookings policies, whitepapers, and technical memos. Develop and implement operational strategies and associated controls for effective revenue recognition and accounting processes.
- Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards. Collaborate with executive leadership to align corporate revenue goals with overall corporate objectives.
- Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of revenue operations and accounting professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment. Provide guidance on complex issues and ensure team members are well-trained.
- Process Management, Optimization, and Monitoring: Establish, maintain, and monitor revenue team standard operating procedures, controls, training, and approved templates. Continuously evaluate and enhance revenue accounting processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as Product, Engineering, Partnerships, Sales, Legal, and Finance, to ensure alignment in revenue recognition policies and procedures.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Monitor changes in accounting standards and regulations, ensuring the organization remains compliant. Assess and mitigate risks associated with revenue recognition.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting required, CPA preferred
- Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in revenue accounting for subscription/SaaS and consumption-based models, with at least 7 years in a leadership role
- Public accounting audit experience is a great plus
- Extensive knowledge of revenue recognition principles, corporate policies, accounting standards (ASC 606), internal controls, and financial reporting
What We Offer
6sense offers a competitive salary range of $197,664 to $270,000, depending on experience. We also provide a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, life and disability insurance, a 401K employer matching program, paid holidays, self-care days, and paid time off (PTO).
