Job Title: Managing Consultant – Energy Providers North Market

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Managing Consultant to join our Energy Providers North Market team within the Guidehouse Energy, Sustainability, and Infrastructure segment. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing project results and client management, owning the delivery of project workstreams, and interacting regularly with clients to ensure engagement success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage small teams responsible for providing detailed fact-finding, research, and analysis on energy-related activities, particularly energy efficiency, grid modernization, renewable energy, customer programs, new business models, and sustainability.
  • Perform, advise, and review technology assessments, statistical and economic analyses leveraging spreadsheets.
  • Facilitate workshops and working sessions between client departments and organizations, lead discussions, form relationships, and facilitate consensus-building.
  • Communicate solutions and new strategies to clients through reports and presentations.
  • Organize and prepare reports, presentations, and other documents for client deliverables.
  • Work effectively with colleagues and client staff as part of a project team, working independently as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five (5) years of relevant industry or consulting experience (excluding internships/coops, or fellowships); OR, Master's degree and a minimum of five (5) years of relevant industry or consulting experience (excluding internships/coops, or fellowships).
  • Demonstrated experience leading small teams.
  • Client service orientation.
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with data analytics.
  • Strong interest in business strategy, energy efficiency, and sustainability.
  • An inquisitive nature and desire for continuous improvement.
  • Superior interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate as a part of a team, as well as to work independently.
  • Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously, prioritize, and plan work activities while meeting respective deadlines.
  • Highly developed organizational and management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • No sponsorship is available for this position.
  • The successful candidate must not be subject to employment restrictions from a former employer (such as a non-compete) that would prevent the candidate from performing the job responsibilities as described.
  • This position is open to candidates who will be associated with one of the following offices: Boston, MA; Burlington, MA; New York, NY; Detroit, MI; Arlington, VA; Chicago, IL; Lawrenceville, NJ.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Experience creating models within Excel and/or experience with R or other programming languages (e.g., Python).
  • Knowledge and experience in industry topics such as: energy efficiency, electric transportation, renewable energy, electric transmission and distribution infrastructure, natural gas systems, wholesale markets.
  • Understanding of business and project management fundamentals.
  • Tireless attention to detail in all prior experience (academic and professional).
  • Experience developing and delivering presentations to executive audiences.
  • Excellent at visualizing data, synthesizing insights, and storytelling with data.
  • A history of successful, creative problem-solving.
  • Excitement to explore the underlying cause of the observation/result.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who reside within a reasonable number of miles from a Guidehouse office.
