About the Role

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Communications Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Communications team, you will be responsible for driving communications programs for our growing services portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Execute Communications Programs: Define, develop, and oversee end-to-end execution of business-critical communications programs to ensure factually accurate representation of AWS services in the press.
  • Manage Reputational Issues: Manage sensitive reputational issues with internal stakeholders and members of the media, protecting sensitive competitive, technical, and business confidential information.
  • Build and Strengthen Relationships: Develop and strengthen relationships with key journalists, bloggers, and evaluators in technology trade and business press, along with reporters who cover AWS's presence in our communities.
  • Collaborate with Senior Leadership: Regularly interact with senior leadership to influence strategy and negotiate decisions in relation to service issues, announcements, and messaging.
  • Plan and Execute PR Campaigns: Work cross-functionally to plan and execute PR campaigns, managing complex, fast-moving, and unexpected communications challenges with high judgment and professionalism.
Requirements
  • 7+ Years of Experience: 7+ years of recent professional communications or public relations experience, with tech infrastructure and business-to-business technology PR experience required.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, or a related field.
  • Media Relationships: Current experience managing media relationships with a network of media contacts.
  • Business-Critical Communications: Experience with business-critical communications and issues management.

  • Proven Experience: Proven experience with business-critical communications and issues management.

  • Good Judgment: Good judgment and the ability to respond quickly, yet thoughtfully, to urgent PR matters.
