Job Summary

The Diocese of Green Bay seeks a skilled and dedicated individual to serve as the Coordinator of Youth Faith Formation. This role is responsible for administering, designing, developing, directing, and evaluating a parish Youth Faith Formation Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer the Youth Faith Formation program by establishing goals, objectives, and strategies.
  • Recruit and train personnel, including catechists and volunteers.
  • Provide in-services to catechists on theology, scripture, methodology, and faith formation.
  • Supervise, affirm, and evaluate catechists, ensuring they meet program standards.
  • Develop and implement policies and guidelines for the program.
  • Assist in preparing and monitoring the faith formation budget.
  • Supervise and schedule facilities for program activities.
  • Nurture a personal spiritual life, modeling a Catholic Christian lifestyle for young people.
  • Plan, develop, and promote quality catechesis for grades 8-9, identifying program needs, researching and selecting curricula, and evaluating resource materials.
  • Establish procedures for effective catechesis, overseeing liturgical and service dimensions of the program, and providing appropriate environments for educational and spiritual growth.
  • Establish Public Relations/Communications within the program, parish, and community, informing the pastor and parish of activities, trends, and issues, and corresponding regularly with parents and young people.
  • Assist in the general ministry of the parish, performing duties and responsibilities as assigned by the pastor, and participating with the Pastoral Team as needed.
Requirements
  • Must be a practicing Catholic, a member in good standing of a Catholic parish within the Diocese of Green Bay, and be single, ordained, a professed religious, or in a sacramental marriage.
  • Strong faith commitment, dedicated to the Gospel values and living a life of prayer and service.
  • Faith Formation experience in a parish.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Understanding of catechetical processes as they pertain to youth, young adults, and adults.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Leadership and administrative skills, decision-making skills, program development skills, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, the internet, and basic office equipment.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, parish, and school community, and establish and maintain effective relationships.
  • Ability to implement age-appropriate instructional materials and methods of teaching.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities as required.
Working Conditions

The Coordinator of Youth Faith Formation will work in an inside office environment and/or classroom setting most of the time, although an outside experiential adventure could be planned. Normal hours would be 5 hours a month from August to April, with some evening hours.

Supervision and Judgment

The Coordinator of Youth Faith Formation receives minimal supervision, establishing priorities and independently setting daily objectives to meet deadlines and address urgent situations as they occur. Considerable judgment and independent decision-making is required, with decisions being moderately complex.
