Position Overview:
The Store Sales Associate plays a vital role in delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring a positive shopping experience. This position requires a commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army and the ability to engage with customers effectively.
Minimum Qualifications:
The qualifications outlined below represent the essential education, experience, certifications, skills, and/or abilities required for this role.
Education: High School Diploma or currently pursuing.
Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient in speaking, writing, and understanding English to facilitate effective communication with customers, management, and colleagues.
- Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with Point of Sale systems and other relevant software.
- Accurate cash handling skills.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform these functions. While executing the duties of this role, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands for handling or feeling, and communicate verbally. The employee frequently walks and reaches with hands and arms. Occasionally, the employee may need to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions:
The work environment for this position is a retail setting with a quiet to moderate noise level. The environment may be dusty and subject to temperature changes based on weather conditions. Employees are routinely exposed to outdoor weather. This position may be full-time or part-time and will require availability during weekends and evenings. All employees acknowledge that The Salvation Army is a church and agree to uphold its religious mission in their role.
