Medical Laboratory Scientist II

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist II - Biochemical Pathology Specialist to join our team at ProMedica Health System. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing routine and complex analytical procedures, recognizing deviations, and providing interpretation following established standards and practices.
Key Responsibilities- Testing and Analysis: Perform testing, maintain established hospital and departmental policies and procedures, and comply with requirements of accreditation and regulatory agencies.
- Maintenance and Quality Control: Perform scheduled maintenance procedures, recognize equipment malfunctions, and take appropriate actions to ensure quality control.
- Knowledge Resource and Liaison: Answer inquiries regarding results and factors affecting results, act as a liaison between the laboratory and healthcare team, and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Computer System and Training: Perform routine inquiry and data input on the laboratory computer systems, ensure accuracy of information, and provide training and competency assessment to new associates and students.
- Continuing Education and Team Leadership: Complete required continuing education units, maintain and upgrade personal professional development, and provide guidance to coworkers in the absence of an on-site supervisor.
- Education: Doctoral, Master's, or Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution.
- Certification: American Society of Pathology (ASCP) MLS or Categorical eligible at time of hire with certification achieved within one year of hire.
- Work Environment: Must be able to move continuously about the hospital and between workstations, and tolerate exposure to disease-bearing specimens, odorous chemicals, carcinogens, mutagens, low-level radiation, electrical hazards, and flammable liquids.
