Position Details:
This is a full-time position requiring 60 hours biweekly, with rotating shifts that include both day and night schedules, along with a commitment to work every third weekend and every other holiday.

Unit Description:
The unit specializes in surgical intermediate care, primarily focusing on patients recovering from urological surgeries, traumatic injuries, and various general surgical procedures. Additionally, it caters to individuals with acute and end-stage renal disease, as well as those needing intermediate nursing care due to tracheostomy or ventilator requirements.

Facility Features:
Each patient room is equipped with advanced medical technology, including oxygen, compressed air, suction systems, and state-of-the-art cardiorespiratory monitors. This setup allows healthcare professionals to access and manage patients' electronic medical records efficiently.

Patient Care Complexity:
The diverse needs of our patient population necessitate a wide range of nursing skills and competencies, ensuring high-quality and cost-effective care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain adequate inventory of medical supplies and equipment in designated areas.
  • Ensure a clean and safe environment for patient care.
  • Assist patients with daily living activities, including bathing, feeding, and mobility.
  • Accurately document and charge all supplies used during patient care.
  • Coordinate with pharmacy, dietary, and other departments as directed by the Registered Nurse.
  • Collect patient specimens while prioritizing safety and comfort.
  • Utilize Hospital Information Systems for documenting vital signs and patient care activities.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and laboratory personnel.
  • Transport patients and deliver necessary reports and supplies to various units.
  • Provide courteous and professional coverage at the patient care unit front desk as needed.
  • Engage in departmental and hospital quality improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in educational programs and attend unit meetings regularly.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in caring for patients across all age groups.

Qualifications:
High School Diploma is required.
American Heart Association BLS certification is mandatory upon hire.
A minimum of one year of patient care experience is preferred.
Ability to read and write accurately is essential.
Understanding of laboratory orders, computer systems, and basic medical terminology is necessary.
Capability to obtain specimens from a diverse patient population, including pediatric patients who may be ill or have special needs.
