Job Summary

ICL is seeking a highly skilled Substance Abuse Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our multi-disciplinary treatment team, you will work closely with individuals who have serious and persistent mental illness to develop and maintain viable living, working, and social situations in the community.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Perform comprehensive assessments of substance abuse and substance abuse diagnosis, utilizing motivational interviewing techniques and stage-wise treatment.
  2. Develop and maintain accurate records and reports regarding recipients' histories and progress, services provided, and other required information.
  3. Collaborate with mental health professionals and other health professionals to coordinate counseling efforts and provide comprehensive care.
  4. Provide crisis intervention services to participants 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  5. Modify treatment plans to comply with changes in recipient status and ensure continuity of care.
  6. Participate in case conferences and staff meetings to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
Requirements

A bachelor's degree is required for this role, along with a valid CASAC or CASAC-T. Three years of experience in providing direct services to individuals with mental disabilities is also necessary, including at least one year of training/experience in integrated mental health and substance abuse assessment and treatment.

Knowledge of the principles and practices of harm reduction is also essential, as is experience with substance abuse counseling and co-occurring mental illness and substance abuse.
