Job Summary

Community Health Action of Staten Island (CHASI) is seeking a skilled Recovery Counselor to join our team at the Next Step Resource and Recovery Center. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality counseling, support, and case management services to individuals in all stages of recovery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct diagnostic assessments, evaluations, and interventions to determine the level of care and treatment options for clients.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including biopsychosocial intakes, treatment planning, and discharge planning.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support to program participants, as well as engage in syringe exchange and harm reduction education.
  • Collaborate with staff, peers, and stakeholders to maintain positive, professional relationships and ensure continuity of care.
  • Represent the organization at meetings and speaking engagements to promote the program and attend required trainings.

Requirements:

  • CASAC or college degree in Social Work or Counseling required.
  • At least 1 year of experience providing counseling services to individuals experiencing substance abuse or mental health issues.
  • Strong assessment skills, care planning, and computer literacy.
  • Effective communication in written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
