Job Overview

Are you an experienced Field Services Engineer ready to advance your career? At Focus Technology Solutions Inc, you will play a vital role in a dynamic team dedicated to delivering IT consulting, network management, and both on-site and remote technical assistance to our clientele.

Our Managed IT Services division provides a comprehensive suite of solutions, catering to clients with established IT departments seeking to delegate specific functions, as well as those requiring a complete IT management service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary contact for all technical support inquiries, working on-site five days a week.
  • Deliver expert knowledge of IT/IS technologies within a production setting to clients.
  • Support the upkeep of Windows servers and all applications utilized by clients.
  • Oversee network infrastructure, including servers, workstations, PDAs, routers, firewalls, switches, and printers.
  • Accurately document daily hours, distinguishing between billable and non-billable time, and submit timesheets punctually.
  • Address client needs promptly and professionally.
  • Conduct client audits and compile summary reports of findings.
  • Assist the Field Services Manager and senior IT consultants with project scopes as required.
  • Engage with various vendors regarding hardware, software, and communication needs, including ISPs, wireless networks, phone systems, PDAs, and desktop applications.
  • Participate in on-call duties on a rotating basis and be available for weekend or evening work as necessary.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and knowledgeable in networks and systems, including HP and Dell.
  • Extensive experience with LAN, WAN, and WLAN technologies.
  • Familiarity with implementing and troubleshooting Cisco Nexus, Catalyst, and ASA devices.
  • Working knowledge of enterprise-class switches (L2/L3), routers, load balancers, and firewalls.
  • Expertise in network routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, and HSRP.
  • Ability to configure and troubleshoot VPNs.
  • Technical proficiency in networking, storage, virtualization, and computing across various vendors.
  • Experience in diverse environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, coupled with excellent customer service abilities.
  • Capability to work independently and collaboratively while managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Willingness to travel to client locations and work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
  • A valid driver's license and access to personal transportation for client site visits.

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in IT within the education sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of IT systems and equipment, including servers, networks, printers, scanners, and security devices.
  • Certifications in relevant IT fields, such as CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft, or VMware, are advantageous.
