Qualifications

  • Degree Bachelor's degree
  • Education Graduate from a medical technology program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science (NAACLS).
  • Certification Current certification/registration as determined by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologist (AMT).
  • Experience: Minimum one-year experience within the past 5 years.
  • Basic Life Support BLS (AHA).

Responsibilities

  • Provide Laboratory Procedures Conduct a full range of automated and non-automated lab tests in chemistry, urinalysis, hematology, serology, bacteriology, and immunohematology following established protocols.
  • Evaluate the suitability of specimens for analysis and ensure proper specimen preparation to maintain their physiologic properties.
  • Select, perform, and monitor test procedures using both manual and instrumental techniques, recognizing malfunctions and implementing corrections.
  • Conduct and document quality control procedures for equipment, reagents, and products, ensuring the validity of results.
  • Correlate test data with patient history to verify results, and immediately report abnormal results that require urgent attention.
  • Perform phlebotomy to collect patient specimens, manage sample accession, and maintain supply stock for testing.
