Job Summary:

The Respiratory Therapy Department adheres to the American Association for Respiratory Care Clinical Practice Guidelines (AARC CPG) for patient management. Respiratory Therapists operate in a physician-supervised setting, delivering critical care services across all patient demographics.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from an AMA-accredited respiratory therapy program.
  • Applicants with less than one year of respiratory therapy experience may be considered.

Essential Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively explain respiratory therapy procedures to patients.
  • Proficiency in Meditech and Microsoft Office applications.

Certification/Licensure:

  • RRT License in respiratory therapy from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • BLS certification from the AHA or Red Cross is required.
  • ACLS certification is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review medical records, ensuring completeness of physician orders and indications for therapy.
  • Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments of patients, including cardiac, pulmonary, and neurologic evaluations.
  • Assemble and verify equipment functionality according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Administer prescribed therapies while monitoring patient outcomes and addressing any complications.
  • Perform routine airway management and pulmonary function assessments in line with AARC CPG.
  • Document patient assessments and therapy responses accurately in medical records.
  • Provide emergency response for respiratory and cardiopulmonary crises.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement multidisciplinary care plans.
  • Maintain and clean departmental equipment, ensuring proper functionality.
  • Assist in quality assurance initiatives and departmental audits as assigned.
