Department Overview:

The L142 Department at MITRE specializes in Simulation, Experimentation, and Gaming. We provide a versatile and responsive workforce dedicated to crafting, developing, and implementing simulation and game-based solutions tailored to meet our sponsors' operational, engineering, and acquisition needs. Our services range from consultation to designing and executing simulation and game-based experiments, collaborating closely with our sponsors, and developing innovative tools or integrated engineering environments.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Oversee multidisciplinary wargaming initiatives, including defining methodologies, selecting teams, and managing execution and delivery.
  • Collaborate directly with senior leaders to ascertain wargaming requirements and suggest suitable methodologies (table-top, workshops, board games, digital games, or computer simulations).
  • Facilitate sponsor engagement throughout the wargaming project lifecycle.
  • Design and create wargames across various methodologies for tactical, operational, and strategic contexts, including military and non-military domains.
  • Lead and participate in all phases of wargaming activities, including pre-exercise, execution, and post-execution evaluations.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree; or 7 years with a master's degree; or a PhD with 4 years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, social science, or a related technical field such as statistics, physics, mathematics, operations research, or computer science.
  • At least 5 years of experience in government or industry in relevant areas such as game design/development or simulation development.
  • Possession of an active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Preferred experience in roles such as Game Director, Game Designer, Game Developer, Game Tool Developer, or Game Analyst.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to present complex issues clearly and provide actionable recommendations.
  • This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's or PhD in a relevant technical field.
  • 10+ years of experience supporting government clients.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Experience in multiple roles such as Game Director, Game Designer, Game Developer, Game Tool Developer, or Game Analyst.
  • Military Wargaming Certification.
