Department Overview:

The L142 Department at MITRE specializes in Simulation, Experimentation, and Gaming, providing a versatile and responsive workforce dedicated to crafting simulation and game-based solutions that meet our sponsors' operational, engineering, and acquisition needs. Our services range from consultation to designing and executing simulation and game-based experiments in close partnership with our sponsors, as well as developing new tools or integrated engineering environments as part of a system, digital, or digital twin engineering framework. L142 proudly supports all MITRE FFRDCs and maintains a vibrant research and development program.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to gather sponsor requirements and define simulation and integration needs for mission success.
  • Design and implement simulations and federations of simulations, along with decision support tools for various domains, including tactical, operational, and strategic military and non-military contexts.
  • Lead and engage in pre-exercise, execution, and post-execution activities for simulation and federated simulation applications.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree; or 3 years with a master's degree; or a PhD without experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field such as statistics, physics, mathematics, operations research, engineering management, computer science, or another STEM discipline.
  • 4+ years of experience in government or industry in areas such as computer-based simulation design and development, integration with other simulations and tools, or simulation development.
  • Possession of an active Top-Secret clearance and willingness to obtain TS/SCI clearance.
  • Preferred experience in software development and integration with various simulations and integration architectures/tools.
  • Proficiency in programming languages and tools, including Java, C/C++, Python, and message-based middleware.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to clearly articulate key issues and provide actionable technical solutions.
  • This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's or PhD in engineering or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience supporting government clients.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Experience in wargaming roles and familiarity with various simulations and integration tools.
  • Experience with command and control systems.
