Position Overview: The Clinical Donation Coordinator RN plays a crucial role in assessing and managing eligible organ donors while ensuring the effective placement of all recovered organs in accordance with ConnectLife's policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Be available for 24-hour on-call duties as part of the organ procurement team.
  2. Assess imminent death referrals to determine organ donation viability.
  3. Oversee on-site referrals, authorizations, donor maintenance, and recovery activities at hospitals with potential donors, ensuring all organ procurement processes are managed from evaluation to recovery.
  4. Adhere to donor management protocols established by the ConnectLife Medical Director to optimize donor potential, collaborating with medical professionals as necessary.
  5. Educate hospital staff on the organ donation process to foster a supportive environment for potential donors.
  6. Facilitate communication with potential donor families and coordinate the authorization process with designated individuals.
  7. Ensure compliance with all medical and legal requirements prior to donor surgery.
  8. Maintain adherence to regulatory standards and ConnectLife policies throughout the organ recovery process.
  9. Keep accurate donor records to meet compliance requirements.
  10. Follow up on all pre and post-recovery donor lab work and related activities as needed.
  11. Provide necessary feedback to donor hospitals and families.
  12. Engage in Hospital Development activities and Medical Record Reviews as required.
  13. Stay informed about advancements in organ donation and allocation practices.
  14. Maintain any required certifications and ongoing education relevant to the role.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess an RN with an associate degree or higher.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in emergency medicine or critical care is strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and think critically to solve problems while maintaining a focus on customer service.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology and Microsoft Word, along with strong data entry skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the capacity to remain accurate under pressure.
  • Highly organized with effective time management skills, capable of prioritizing and multitasking.
  • Professional demeanor and appearance, with the ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
  • Valid NYS Driver's license and reliable transportation are required, with local travel involved.
