The Division for Student Affairs is focused on creating an inclusive environment that nurtures connection, development, and well-being for all students during their time at GW. Our approach is centered on collaboration, empathy, and prioritizing student needs. Within this framework, Lerner Health and Wellness offers diverse programming in intramural sports, fitness instruction, and recreational activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the Club Sports program, providing guidance and support to all student organizations involved.
- Procure and maintain equipment for the program, ensuring regular inspections and necessary repairs.
- Travel weekly to oversee Club Sports practices and competitions throughout the academic calendar.
- Coordinate scheduling for all club sports activities in collaboration with relevant campus departments.
- Collaborate with the Student Organizations Finance team on purchases, travel arrangements, and budget management for club sports.
- Act as the primary on-site manager for evening and weekend events related to Intramural and Club Sports.
- Supervise a team of student and temporary staff responsible for managing the Intramural Sports program, which serves approximately 3,500 participants.
- Oversee hiring, training, and performance evaluations for staff, including organizing comprehensive training sessions for officials and student managers.
- Manage payroll and operational budgets for intramural and club sports activities.
- Schedule facilities for intramural events and collaborate with scheduling personnel.
- Evaluate the effectiveness and satisfaction of programming within intramural and club sports, aligning with industry trends.
- Develop and implement training programs and guidelines for student staff in the Intramural and Club Sports sectors.
- Serve as the facility manager as needed for openings, closings, and weekend operations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, ensuring flexibility in meeting the needs of the department.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a high school diploma or GED along with four years of relevant professional experience, or a Bachelor's degree in a related field. Degrees must be conferred by the start date of employment. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will also be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Recreation Management, Sport Management, Physical Education, or a related discipline.
- Experience in a university recreational sports environment.
- Demonstrated responsibility for multiple recreation and fitness programs within a university setting.
- Familiarity with managing recreation facilities, equipment, activities, and associated policies.
- Experience with risk management practices and emergency response planning.
- Knowledge of organizational planning and project management.
- Understanding of the rules and regulations governing sports such as softball, basketball, volleyball, flag football, and soccer.
Compensation:
The salary range for this position is $45,000 to $63,191.56.

Work Schedule:
