About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our team at the Joint Staff Complex in Suffolk, VA. As a trusted partner to our military customers, we design, develop, and operate systems that bring together service members from across the globe to help them train like they fight.
The successful candidate will be responsible for architecting, developing, and maintaining large software systems, working closely with a Product Owner, Scrum Master, and other Engineers to translate functional requirements into robust, scalable, and supportable solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop large software systems using modern programming languages and technologies
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize project requirements
- Develop and maintain high-quality code, following best practices for coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations
- Participate in the full development lifecycle, including troubleshooting issues in support of applications in production critical environments
- Provide training and support to new Associate Software Engineers and other Engineers on the team
Requirements:
- 15 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in a related field, or 13 years with a Master's degree, or 10 years with a PhD or Juris Doctorate
- Active Secret Security Clearance
- Strong logical thinking skills and development fundamentals, including object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, design, and complexity analysis
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language, such as Java, JavaScript, Python, or C++
- Knowledge of best practices for the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations
