Job Title: Registered Veterinary Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Veterinary Technician to join our team in the Emergency Surgery unit at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the DVM with patient transfers from the emergency service, collecting and submitting laboratory samples, providing direct perioperative and inpatient care, and communicating with clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the DVM with patient transfers from the emergency service
  • Collect and submit laboratory samples
  • Provide direct perioperative and inpatient care
  • Communicate with clients
  • Perform daily client call-backs associated with specialty service emails
  • Enter VETVIEW requests PRN (service input, communications and charges)
  • Provide sedation and assistance to radiology to expedite patient imaging
  • Communicate surgical cases with anesthesia and Surgical Coordinator
  • Call in RX refills
  • Obtain lab results
  • Keep up with the status of the patient's bill, the estimate and the deposit
  • Field consults, messages, questions, and calls for the clinicians
Requirements:
  • Graduation from an accredited Veterinary Technician program
  • Passing the VTNE with confirmed RVT license in the state of Georgia or ability to obtain an RVT license in the state of Georgia within 6 months of employment
  • Experience properly handling animals
  • Ability to deal with stressful situations
Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment with high levels of animal sounds, bodily fluids that need disposal, and open wound management.
