Public Safety Dispatcher I

As a Public Safety Dispatcher I with the City of Reno, you will play a critical role in receiving, evaluating, and prioritizing emergency and non-emergency calls for service. You will be responsible for dispatching public safety units to situations, operating a variety of emergency dispatch and communications equipment, and maintaining accurate and complete logs and records of all activities and calls.
Key Responsibilities
Receive, evaluate, and prioritize emergency and non-emergency calls for service
Dispatch public safety units to situations
Operate NG911, radio transmitting, and computer-aided dispatch systems
Maintain accurate and complete logs and records of all activities and calls
Coordinate the receipt of both emergency and non-emergency calls and relay information and assistance with other law enforcement, fire, medical, and other emergency response agencies as required
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to work under pressure, exercise good judgment, and make sound decisions in emergency situations
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to operate a variety of emergency dispatch and communications equipment
Ability to work irregular hours, including weekends, evenings, nights, and holidays
