Job Opportunity

Blue Ridge Atlantic Development, LLC and Shelter Resources, Inc., are related Affordable Housing Developers with operations in multiple states. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and experience with financial software such as QuickBooks. The Senior Accountant will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and will be responsible for handling day-to-day accounting tasks, including processing cash receipts and disbursements, reconciling bank and account statements, and preparing financial statements and management reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Chief Financial Officer and Accounting Manager to handle day-to-day accounting tasks in QuickBooks for multiple entities.
  • Process cash receipts and disbursements, and reconcile bank and account statements.
  • Prepare financial statements and management reports for multiple entities.
  • Develop and record journal entries for accrued expenses and revenue.
  • Act as a liaison for vendors, investors, lenders, and other external parties to discuss and resolve discrepancies.
  • Gather and prepare information for audits, cost certifications, and tax returns.
  • Assist in tracking year-end audit and tax return processing for multiple entities.
  • Review ownership agreements and prepare cash flow waterfall templates.
  • Respond to special requests for information internally and externally.
  • Review operational accounting and reporting from third-party fee management companies.
  • Assist with other special projects and ad-hoc reporting as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently and maintain a customer service mindset.
  • Demonstrated success in working with remote and in-person team members.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Able to multi-task and track, prioritize, and complete work effectively and efficiently.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with real estate development, affordable housing, and/or monthly draw preparation.
  • 3+ years' related accounting experience.
  • Hands-on experience with QuickBooks.
